If a human being approaches a group of people standing in a series of parallel lines from the side, and it is neccessary for the person to stand in one line, the person is most likely to choose to stand in the first line in the series he/she encounters, then the second, then third, and so on until the final line is reached.
The likelyhood that the human being will choose the first line in the series rises as the number of people standing in line rises.
The number of people standing in line decreases as the distance from the primary point of access increases.
